It's a Wild Life - Tales from Television - George McGavin

A new talk from the popular TV personality and entomologist. As part of Wildlife Friendly Otley's fifth wildlife arts festival, George will be speaking in the Wesley Hall at Otley Common, followed by a Q&A.  After consecutive careers in academia and media George shares his personal journey to discover the world of wildlife - big and especially small - and explains why even in light of the current climate and nature crisis, his passion for the natural world is as strong as ever.  

George McGavin studied Zoology at Edinburgh University, followed by a PhD in entomology at Imperial College and the Natural History Museum in London. After 30 years as an academic, mostly at Oxford University, he became an award-winning broadcaster. George is an Honorary Research Associate of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.
